Welcome to the Department of Crops, Horticulture and Soils. The mandate of the department is to offer client- driven, competitive and quality academic programmes tailored to ensure food security in Kenya and Worldwide. Our students are well-trained and equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development. Academic staff in the department are well qualified, with 100% holding a doctoral degree. The department offers several client-driven undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and a diploma programme. Academic staff engage in quality research in the fields of agronomy, horticulture and soils, and related life sciences and this is reflected in the numerous research outputs. The department has empowered the surrounding communities in food production and utilization, as a result. We have established and continue to maintain linkages, collaborations and partnerships with relevant institutions of crop production, research and teaching, both locally and internationally.
